Hi, I’m Malini Ghosal.

I'm Malini, a guide passionate about teaching that your quality of being is just as important as what you accomplish. In fact, we can achieve our goals—and so much more—by operating from an easeful, embodied presence, even in intellectual arenas.

And I am SIMULTANEOUSLY the best and worst person to teach that. Why?

Backing up a little bit. My story began in a small Indian town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, where I was raised in a world filled with love, nature, and a close-knit community. With a mother who was an elementary school science teacher with a heart as expansive as her love for nature, a father who was a brilliant, multi-talented physics professor, and a brother who filled my days with the most entertaining childhood, I was raised in a world full of curiosity and kindness.
Music, dance, literature, science, nature, and a sense of safety—these formed my bubble. But above all, I grew up marveling at the beauty in others, silently admiring the brilliance of each human soul.
Despite these, no one escapes childhood unscathed. Therefore, I had my fair share of small T traumas—masking my neurodivergence, some minor sexual abuse here and there, bullies in all shape and form, and piling up stress from excessive striving to be the ‘good girl’ in a society quick to judge and a few more I am yet to put a finger on.
In 2012, I moved to the US to pursue a doctoral degree in electrical engineering. I landed a job in clean energy research, a field that excited me gave me some early success. But by 2021, I hit a wall of burnout that shook my entire sense of self. Suddenly, all the striving, piled up stress in my nervous system and internalized people-pleasing caught up with me. I realized I had been living a life that felt like I was constantly holding back, disconnected from my true essence, and drained by a deep, internalized fear.

I realized that I barely lived my life from THE ‘here and now’. The present moment never felt safe for my nervous system. YeT, presence remains the only doorway to experience life.

This burnout, though painful, became a pivotal turning point. It cracked open a door to a profound healing journey, where I began to peel back layers of stress, conditioning, and innate sense of disempowerment. Through this process, I discovered a way of living that was entirely new to me—one that flowed with ease and was grounded in presence and authenticity. I learned that true strength doesn’t come from pushing harder, but from living in alignment with who we really are, premise of which is a healed nervous system.
Now, as a coach, trained in multiple modalities, blending evidence based psychotherapeutic tools and intuition, I’m dedicated to helping others who, like me, have followed all the rules, done everything right, and yet find themselves exhausted and unfulfilled. I want to guide you toward a life where you can achieve your goals with ease, without sacrificing your quality of being.
I now live in a small town in the eastern part of Washington with my husband and a stubborn husky.

MY TRAINING

  • Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in Training (completed Module 1 of the 3-year program) – one of the world’s leading trauma therapy practitioner training based on Dr. Peter Levine’s revolutionary modality, Somatic Experiencing, for trauma and chronic stress. As Dr. Levine points out, trauma (or chronic stress) doesn’t reside in the event but in how it impacts the mind and body, particularly the autonomic nervous system. Somatic Experiencing addresses this by focusing on the physiological responses that remain trapped in the body. Through mindful awareness of bodily sensations, it guides the nervous system to complete the interrupted fight, flight, or freeze responses, allowing for the release of stored stress. This approach helps restore balance to the autonomic nervous system, facilitating healing and reducing the lingering effects of stress.
  • Mind-Body Coaching Certificate from the Embody Lab – Through a balance of depth processing and action-focused practices, Mind-Body Coaching empowers clients to address obstacles to achieving their goals, realizing their life vision, transforming stuck patterns, and strengthening relationships. This program draws on body-centered therapy and somatic coaching practices, including Gestalt, Hakomi, Focusing, Body-Mind Centering, Somatic Experiencing, Expressive Arts, Strozzi Somatic Coaching, Somatic Stress Release, and Mindfulness.
  • Teacher of Presence, School of Awakening – An in-person and online training with Eckhart Tolle, learning to cultivate a quality of presence that serves as a field for facilitating transformation in clients. Though abstract in teaching practical toolsets, this training remains one of the most impactful. Tolle’s teaching provided practical tips on creating a regulated nervous system with a compassionate heart, a foundation from which meaningful client transformation unfolds.
  • 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training from International Yoga Alliance-approved school and curriculum. I incorporate breathwork and yin, or self-supported gentle excercise that enables deep tissue release into my practice.
Apart from these, I hold degrees unrelated to my coaching practice—a bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD in Electrical Engineering—which gives me an edge by lending a systems thinking lens, especially from Control Theory, to the healing space, where you’d be surprised how much parallels exist.
I also draw from 14 years of meditation practice and spiritual wisdom, which I incorporate into my coaching as needed or preferred by the client.

Testimonials

Ultimately, the goal of any coaching is very straighforward - it is to create a desired change in a client’s life. My coaching uses four pillars that enables the transformation in my client's life. These are:

Safety through nervous system regulation

As the saying goes (often misattributed to Einstein), “The level of consciousness that created the problem cannot solve the problem.” This is true for addressing burnout also. The common denominator in most people experiencing burnout is some degree of chronic stress, shifting our consciousness into survival mode—constantly stuck in fight/flight or freeze. To initiate recovery, we must shift our nervous system out of survival mode by a trifecta of releasing stored stress, sending signals of safety, and activating the ‘rest and digest’ branch of the nervous system. Once the nervous system releases the grip of survival fear, three key things happen:

Calm Energy is Released: This energy is distinctly different from the high-octane adrenaline that fuels a survival response. It’s a more grounded and sustainable form of vitality that supports well-being.

Clarity of Mind Unlocks: When survival fear is no longer in control, our mind can shift from a narrow, survival-focused view to a broader perspective. This restores our connection to the pre-frontal cortex, integrates both hemispheres of the brain, and allows for clearer thinking and better decision-making.

New Inspiration and Insights Emerge: With the nervous system in a state of safety, creativity and insight can flow more freely. This newfound calm and clarity create space for fresh ideas and inspiration to surface, guiding us towards innovative solutions and renewed purpose.

insights ThROUGH sensations

Noticing our bodily sensations while navigating emotional dilemmas or complex thoughts can unlock profound insights. In my coaching sessions, I guide you into a mindful, grounded state where you feel safe to connect with your emotions. By using your physical sensations as a thread, we explore beneath the surface to uncover deeper truths. This approach not only reveals the subconscious roots of surface-level issues but also helps you stay present while processing challenging or uncomfortable thoughts about the past or future. Clarity through Compassionate Inquiry

Clarity through compassionate inquiry is a crucial pillar in burnout coaching. This approach uses gentle, open-ended questions to explore your inner world with kindness and curiosity. By delving into your current values, wounds, gifts, unique signature, and biggest stressors, you can uncover misplaced priorities and deeper insights into your burnout. Compassionate inquiry reveals hidden beliefs and emotional patterns, fostering self-compassion and guiding you to actionable changes. This method helps you address the root causes of stress with a supportive mindset, leading to meaningful healing and sustainable well-being.

Aligned action through embodiment

Pillars 1 -3 unlock self-compassion, easeful energy, inspiration, and clarity of thought. This sets the stage for taking conscious actions, creating boundaries to protect our sensitive side, and building a healthier relationship with work and life.
When one works on the above layers, one can now start self-actualization through practical, grounded actions.

When the nervous system is free of fear, clarity and strength arise.

When the mind is clear, truth emerges.

When emotional wounds heal, our authentic self is revealed.

Now it’s time to make serious changes in your life through practical actions.
These practical, individualized steps create a tangible shift in burnout, launching you into a new, empowered version of yourself. By addressing root causes and equipping you with effective tools, you’ll experience lasting change and a future free from burnout.
